This is weeknight cooking at its easiest: hot spaghetti tossed with butter, soy sauce, and sweet green peas. The soy sauce works like a shortcut pan sauce and clings nicely to the pasta.

Ingredients

  • 5 ounces (150 g) dried spaghetti
  • 2 tablespoons (30 g) unsalted butter
  • 2 large garlic cloves, finely minced
  • 1 tablespoon Classic Soy Sauce
  • 3/4 cup (about 90 g) green peas, fresh or frozen
  • Parmesan, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the spaghetti until al dente according to package directions. Reserve 1/4 cup of the pasta water, then drain.
  2. While the pasta cooks, melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook, stirring, until fragrant and just starting to turn golden, 1 to 2 minutes.
  3. Add the soy sauce and green peas to the skillet. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes, until the peas are heated through.
  4. Toss in the spaghetti and add in the reserved pasta water to help the sauce coat the noodles.
  5. Serve hot, topped with Parmesan.
